Poem : The Month is June…

[ This is my FIRST attempt at poetry, describing the onset of monsoon at the beginning of June in Kerala ]

Oh what a boon,

The month is June.

When cold winds start blowing,

and clouds start pouring.

The sky becomes dark,

the heavens spark.

Our ears become sore,

from the heavens’ roar.

And surely not a month we hate,

but a month for which we wait.

A new school year starts,

and we rush to marts.

New bags, new shoes,

New books and new robes.

Paper boats begin their run,

Getting wet is just so fun.

Months of the sun’s hot shine,

and the weather is just so fine.

Oh what a great boon,

the month is June.
